General Appearance: Hitsugaya is an incredibly short, lightly built individual. Being young by Shinigami standards, he has the features of a child. His eyes are a light shade of Turquoise, and his hair is a messy array of short spiky white strands. He wears a standard captain's haori with the sleeves torn off. He wears a green sash around his shoulder, held together by a round, star-like clip. This sash holds his Zanpakutō's sheath in place on his back and is tied to it on either end.

Underneath his modified captain's haori, Hitsugaya wears the typical Shinigami uniform; a white shitagi, a black kosode, a black hakama, a white hakama-himo, white tabi, and waraji.

IV. Personality

Personality: Hitsugaya is rather rigid, serious and formal. He is often annoyed by individual's goofing off, or joking around during missions. He despises anything he deems as childish, as well as any insinuation that he himself is a child or childlike, mainly due to his insecurity about his relative youth as a Shinigami, as well as his short stature. He lives by the motto “children who sleep well, grow well”, taking afternoon naps every day in hopes it will increase his stature. Hitsugaya is usually mocked by his enemies, and his fellow Shinigami due to his height. Due to this, Hitsugaya has developed a cold, callous outer shell towards most people, forcing himself to tolerate these jeers as he goes on with his obligations. Given that he is very formal, he despises being referred to by any title other than “Captain Hitsugaya” and will react angrily when called by any other name. Although he tends to be very shut off and cold to his fellow Shinigami, his dedication to his squad and position is powerful, and he feels a fierce obligation to defend his subordinates. Given his icy nature, Hitsugaya despises anything hot or spicy. He has a powerful disdain for Summer, as well as hot curries and food with spice in them.
Likes: Hitsugaya loves it when individuals call him by his title, “Captain Hitsugaya”, as he typically doesn't get much respect for his hard earned position as a Shinigami captain. Given his affinity with the Ice element, Hitsugaya loves most things cold. He is happiest during Winter, and when it is snowing. He enjoys sweet food, with his favourites being watermelon and Amanattō; a Japanese sweet made of beans covered in sugar and syrup. Though he tries to deny anything he sees as childish, Hitsugaya still enjoys playing with spinning tops, an activity he was so skilled in during his youth that he was the undefeated champion of it in his Rukongai district.
Dislikes: Hitsugaya hates his height being pointed out more than anything. It disgusts him to his core that people judge him based off his age and height rather than his talent, so much so that he dislikes anything even vaguely associated with being a child or childish. Being asexual, Hitsugaya gets frustrated with sexually obsessed people, as well as when individuals come on to him. Spicy food makes him feel nauseous, and he despises the heat of summer. He hates the taste and smell of dried persimmons. When called by any title other than “Captain Hitsugaya”, he gets very angry, seeing it as a sign of immense disrespect.
Motivations: Hitsugaya, since his days spent in the Shin'ō Academy, has been referred to as a child prodigy. Because of this, Hitsugaya has always felt motivated to live up to these expectations, training passionately and restlessly to improve his abilities. In an attempt to compensate for how people think of him due to his height, Hitsugaya has been motivated to move up the rankings of the Gotei 13, a motivation that eventually earned him the captain rank. Even though he is as highly ranked as he can be, Hitsugaya still works hard to improve how people view him as a captain, as well as improving the standing of his squad amongst the Gotei 13.
Fears: Though it is an unusual fear, Hitsugaya is afraid of being unable to grow taller. His height has been the source of ridicule and pain in his life, and he fears if he doesn't grow taller the constant stream of insults and disrespect will never stop. Being a rather proud and dedicated individual, Hitsugaya is terrified of failing his friends and acquaintances. His friends were his only family, and he feels very protective of them. He also feels an immense level of loyalty to his squad members, and is deathly afraid of being unable to protect one of his subordinates.

Zanpakutō Personality: Hyōrinmaru is an incredibly stoic, composed individual. He only ever speaks when something is of importance to him. His willpower is almost unbreakable in this regard, his calm nature remaining consistent no matter what situation he faces. That said, he does have sense of humour, although his jokes are often rather capricious. He enjoys uses his ice powers to freeze things to mess with individuals, especially his master.
